February Beauty, Hair, and Skincare Favorites

This is my first ever favorites post ever so bear with me a little! I don't have a youtube channel (yet) so I can't add an awesome video but here are some pretty pictures for you to enjoy! Without further ado, here are 10 makeup, hair and skincare items I've been loving for the month of February!

LUSH's R&B Hair Moisturizer
Bleaching your hair really fries it so I've been using a little bit of this hair moisturizer as a leave in conditioner after I shower to tame frizz and make my mane silky soft. I had pretty wild hair even before I started dyeing it pink so imagine how it looks without help from R&B! It's quite heavy for a hair moisturizer so make sure to use it after a shower if you want to try it, it makes a world of difference! Using it dry may weigh your hair down!

Sephora Nail Color in Mermaid to Order

This has actually been a favorite nail polish of mine for a long time now. It also happens to be my granny's favorite too! It's a beautiful metallic blue-green that seems to be different colors in various lighting! The wear is pretty good on it, it'll last about a week but beyond that, chipping will be pretty noticeable. I'm going to keep buying this polish until I'm dead or they discontinue it since I love the color so much!

what the color looks like on...right now anyway! It always looks different in the lighting

Covergirl Lashblast Volume Waterproof Mascara
Lately if I want to wear mascara I keep reaching for this orange tube of lash glory! My lashes become twice as long with a couple coats of this baby and it gives just enough volume without making it look like my lashes are made of clumpy black coal! There is a microscopic amount of clumping if I really want to nit pick but nothing that can't be fixed by a  lash comb! If you're a beginner to makeup, this mascara is perfect to start off with :)

Sephora Medium Shopping Bag Makeup Palette
I don't think you can get this product in stores anymore but it still happens to be a favorite of mine for the month! It has eyeshadows, lipglosses, blushes, bronzers and eye liners all in one! No need to pull out a ton of separate items to do my makeup, I can just grab this case and create fun looks without all the fuss. The quality is pretty good and it's lasted me ages!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash

This past month my skin has been feeling less oily and this cleanser probably has had a hand in making my normally overactive sebaceous glands control themselves a little better. I use it on a disposable facial towelette because it doesn't lather very well by itself. Slightly cooling and very refreshing, it's a good wake up call for drowsy mornings.

L'Oreal Revitalift Night Cream

I may have no wrinkles yet but I absolutely love this moisturizer! I use it once a day on my face and neck and it absorbs like a dream! One thing I hate about moisturizers is that they make my skin feel sticky and I have to wait and wait centuries for it to dry. With this one, it lightly moisturizes my skin without being too heavy. The one thing I dislike about this product is the smell. It smells almost like Pez candy mixed with those valentine chalky hearts. It doesn't linger though thank gosh!

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer
Move aside Urban Decay because this primer is 100 times more effective! It's made to be a face primer but I use it on my eyelids as an eyeshadow primer. It's pretty much a tube of silicone but boy does it make your eyeshadow colors pop and last all day! The reason you can use it on your eyes is because the ingredients in eye primers and face primers are almost exactly the same! You may be ripping yourself off getting a tiny tube of eyeshadow primer vs a face primer since they work the same! For sure holy grail material, no primer I've tried so far tops this one! Not to mention it's gigantic so I'll not be needing a new one for a long time!

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment
Pricey item but I got mine free for my birthday from Sephora! I'm going to be pretty sad when its used up though because it's such a good little lip balm! I love to wear it under lipstick and gloss. It smells amazing as well! Yum!

Tokidoki Prisma Glosses
I haven't really been using many lip products apart from the Fresh lip treatment but I have worn these lip glosses a couple times and my...they smells divine. Just like blueberry candy! I mostly like wearing them since their fragrances are so delectable but they have pretty good lasting power too. More for shine than color, these glosses make your lips look like glinting ice! They're reddish in the tube but virtually colorless on the lips. Apply a coat of lipstick under this gloss and your lips will look dazzling!

Revlon Custom Creations Liquid Foundation
The great thing about this foundation is that you can change the shade to fit your skin tone! The dial on top tells you what color it will dispense so if you happen to have a tan you can make it darker or if winter paled you out, you can switch it to a lighter shade. It's got a medium to think coverage and has SPF 15 in it. A little goes a long way!

Thanks for reading and ciao for now~!

50 Random Things About Me Tag

I swear that I'm not a narcissistic person but doing these allows me learn about myself and also to share with the world what kind of person I am. Things long forgotten I remember and it makes me think about how I got to be the person I am today! If you think they are fun to read that makes my day because I really do enjoy doing these tags! Here's 50 more things about me that you may not know! Who knows, we might have a lot in common!

1) My favorite season is Summer hands down! Nothing like relaxing on the beach or burying your friends in the sand!

2) I probably have 3 to 4 cups of tea daily (minus the weekends where I tend to go out a lot more). Currently addicted to David's Teas especially.

3) My longest relationship lasted 3 and a half years. Pretty much my whole high school life.

4) I will keep a mascara longer than the recommended three months. Maybe over a year since I opened it. I know this is pretty bad but I hate throwing away mascara and just throwing away things in general!

5) I know all the lyrics to an extremely large amount of Disney songs and sing them at home all the time (despite how it annoys my family).

6) I was born in Hong Kong.

7) My hair is very fine and naturally wavy even though I'm Chinese (most Chinese people have thick and straight hair).

8) In an effort to draw the perfect picture of Sesshomaru from Inuyasha, I redrew the same picture of him 12 times to get it right! Goes to show I am passionate about art and work hard at things I love!

9) Spiderman is my favorite American superhero. I love all the bad puns, his attitude, and just how it reminds me of my childhood when I use to watch the old cartoon in the evenings.

10) I have a stamp collection featuring stamps from Canada to England, from China to India and so and so forth.

11) I've never broken a bone!

12) I want to start a youtube channel and talk about beauty, fashion, skincare and the like but mostly so I can sing! It's my dream to be a singer but I don't want to until I get a better camera (or so I keep telling myself...maybe I'm just shy).

13) I can't sleep well in complete silence. I've grown up listening to the ambiance of cars passing by on the street, without it, things seem too eerie to get a good night's rest.

14) I'm very apologetic, you may even find me apologizing to a table or chair if I bump into them...

15) Even though my hair is pretty short right now, I prefer long hair by a landslide! I can't wait for my locks to grow out so I can do some awesome hairstyles again!

16) At age 19, I still don't have my Learners for driving yet! Not that I'm upset about this, driving looks terrifying!

17) I tend to hold grudges. Not just at the person I'm mad at but also all their friends and people they associate with...not so good :(

18) Spicy foods are the bane of my existence. I like korean kimchi (fermented spicy cabbage and other vegetables) and maybe a select few spicy cup noodles but apart from that I hate spiciness!

19) My nails are brittle and thin, I want longer ones but looks like I can't have them since they break once they've grown 2 mm or so past the tip of my finger.

20) My favorite color was green...is green? I'm not sure because pink is quickly catching up to my love of green!

21) I absolutely love Christmas lights! I wish families would keep them on their houses all year so I could see them all the time! Walking on a winter's night and seeing all the lights brightens my mood!

22) I dislike children and don't want to have kids. They're quite cute but can be fussy and bratty.

23) Jason Mraz is my favorite musical artist of all time. No questions asked!

24) I have 223 watchers on my DeviantART account and I'm very proud of this! Here's the link to my page if you want to check it out!

25) I really don't like profanity. If you have a nasty swearing habit I probably won't want to be near you. I'll also rarely swear myself unless I'm really flaming mad!

26) I am not an Apple fan. Ask me mac or PC, PC all the way.

27) The Inheritance Series by Christopher Paolini is one of my all time favorite book series! Murtagh is my love~ <3

28) I can play the Lost Woods song from Legend of Zelda blindfolded on the piano.

29) I don't think I could easily build up the courage to ask someone out nor do I show many obvious signs of liking people. So if I like you you would probably never know....I wouldn't say I'm a shy person though!

30) I use a computer mouse with my left hand though I am right handed.

31) In Physical Education class from grades 9 to 10, I was a very competitive student and got bullied because of it. Girls would surround me and tell me not to "try so hard" to which I would defend myself and talk back to them. Even though they tried to push me around my goal was to try and keep fit so I wouldn't let their attitudes stop me.

32) I cry when I laugh hard! You can tell it's a real laugh if I have tears in my eyes.

33) Do I live to eat or eat to live? The former :)

34) Wearing hats makes me sleepy, that's why you'll rarely see me wearing one.

35) I own approximately 20 sketchbooks, that's a lot of drawing!

36) I've been on two cruises in my life, one to Mexico and one to Alaska... they were really fun!

37) My middle name is the name of a Pokemon, ever heard of Sea King?

38) I've only moved once in my entire life and that was for international immigration!

39) I've never tried smoking and never intend to.

40) I usually wear a one piece to the pool, I'm a little insecure about wearing a bikini.

41) I'd rather read something in book form than on a screen whether it be textbook or novel.

42) I hit the gym and pool about 4-5 times a week! New Years Resolutions still in action!

43)The first pencil crayon color I usually run out of is either black or blue

44) I think accents are amazing! especially British and Scottish ones....oh man...*drool*

45) I hate throwing things away. I either keep it until it pretty much disintegrates or recycle it, even if it means picking apart the small parts so that every bit gets another chance to be something else.

46) I can do the moonwalk.

47) My front and back yards have more moss than grass...no good because I kind of have a phobia of touching moss. No bare foot running through it for sure...

48) I own every single D.Gray-man manga published in North America. I always buy the new one when it comes out!

49) I share a birthday with the lovable fat cat, Garfield!

50) There is no way in holy heaven would I ever sleep with  my closet door open. I don't believe in monsters living in there but I get a little spooked since it's a dark, cavernous cave that could be the home of some ghoul or ghost...

Thanks for sticking around guys :)

Ciao for now!

Life Happenings!

Hey peeps! I've summarized my weekend in this blog post to share with all of you~
Enjoy!

So...I'M EMPLOYED AGAIN! Hurrah! It's at a place called A&W ( I think we only have them in Canada) that's famous for their burgers and customer service! I hope I can contribute a lot to the company and learn from them at the same time! This means a harder workload though; school, work, and a social life are hard to balance but with some persistence and planning, I'm sure it can be done! I can't wait for my first shift!

My friend Jimmie and I spent the day at the mall on Friday where I spent TOO MUCH MONEY. So much in fact that now, I'm going to go on a buying hiatus. I spent nearly 100 dollars on lots of little things like nail polish, video games, more David's Tea (of course...) and so on and so forth. Here's some of the goodies I got!

Isn't this Hello Kitty Nail Polish I got cute? Sephora sucks me in like a dinghy in a whirlpool... I've lusted after a mint polish for a long long time now so why not spoil myself a little?

The tea I got this time is The Earl's Garden. It's got freeze-dried strawberries and bergamot in it! I've never even tried Earl Grey so let the first tasting be a luxurious one~

I also purchased a new DS game called The Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks. I'm a huge fan of the Zelda series so I'm very excited to play this game! It's been way too long since I last bought something to play on my DS, now I'll have something fun to do before bed time!

...but really now, I promise myself not to buy a single fashion, beauty, or tea related item for the next month! If I can hold out until the end of March, we'll see then!

We had coffee together at Starbucks and chatted a bit. I don't see Jimmie much anymore...if you're reading Jimmie, it was fun hanging out with you!

On Saturday morning, my friend Kyra picked me up from my house and we ate breakfast at her place. Mmmm cheesey scrambled eggs on toast! She kidnapped me to help her finish the silent realm in Skyward Sword. It's a little creepy but I managed to help her the third time through! She has so many animals at her house! Guinea pigs, dogs, fish and who knows what else! Her three doggies are so cute! I'm really jealous, I LOVE DOGS! We had some tea then left to meet my parents at a local church.

There was a gem show being held in the church that was pretty fun! Lots of cool stones and fossils were on display (some for sale). Kyra was an absolute darling and got me this beautiful heart shaped goldstone! She got a matching purple one as well...FRIENDSHIP STONE! *vomits a rainbow*

My dad had an awesome time there, he probably bought out all the vendors (...no...my tuition money!!!) but I'm glad he had fun! Near the end, Kyra and I were a little bored, I'm happy we got to spend some time together though!

Come Sunday things quieted down a little. I played some Twilight Princess for the Wii and had Chai with my friend Charlotte. It's been ages since I've talked to her! We were really close in middle school, I truly miss those good old days!

Lots of reconnecting this weekend, it was a welcome break from the stresses of the week!
Thanks for reading and ciao for now!

Anna Sui Stick Concealer Review

I think Anna Sui has one of the best makeup packaging designs around! It's so beautiful and dark! I can imagine a sultry vixen putting on her makeup in an incense infused boudoir and using Anna Sui products to do it!

Somewhat shamefully, I bought this product because of how beautiful the packaging is and not because of how effectively the concealer works. It's orange which counteracts bluish under eye circles (looking at the color wheel, colors exactly opposite each other will neutralize one another) and is in a twisty tube that dispenses a solid stick concealer. Unfortunately, I find it doesn't cover up my dark circles too well but that may be because once I stroke a little bit on my under eye, blending it out with my fingers takes some product off the area. A brush doesn't seem to change much as it also takes off some product when you use it to blend.

Though it's orange, it's almost the same shade as my skin; blending it to look natural isn't a problem thus. The consistency is good, not too thick and is lightweight enough so that it doesn't settle into the fine lines under the eye. However, it's a pretty expensive product, ranging from 22-28 dollars (but I got it for 10 from a sale...oh yeahhh). There are 3 grams in there and that should last a fair amount of time, I'm not complaining about the amount it gives you.

All in all, it's beautiful to display on your vanity but it only works sub par. I wouldn't say I have monstrous dark circles either so perhaps those of you have a bigger problem with panda eyes would like it even less than me. I wouldn't repurchase this but I'll continue to fantasize about being a sultry vixen putting makeup on in a candle lit boudoir!

Thanks for reading and ciao for now!

An Eventful Weekend!

The sun and the blue sky this weekend has got me in the highest of spirits! I mean, look how gorgeous it is outside! Wahhh!! Where I live, the sun doesn't shine most of the time, we get a lot of rain so when we have some good weather I'm super excited! T'was quite a memorable weekend! I did everything from partying, baking and attending a Chinese New Year celebration!

On Friday, a bunch of my friends and I got together and had another Legend of Zelda themed party (we lovvveeee Legend of Zelda...in case you guys didn't notice). Hanna and Kyra dressed up, they were Link and Tingle...by god their costumes were amazing and I had a lot of fun taking pictures with them, gaming, and stuffing our faces with chocolate, cake and mac 'n cheese!

The forest where we were taking our cosplay pictures. It's very beautiful in the evening.

Link and wolf Link? It's just Poppy, Hanna's dog <3

Tingle in his aviators being fabulous~

Link and Tingle seemed to be lost in the woods...

...In the end we played nearly ten hours of Skyward Sword...oh my gosh it was crazy...I'm not sure I've ever gamed so much in my entire life!

Hanna recently purchased the Hyrule Historia which is an amazing book with tons of neat facts about The Legend of Zelda game series. The pictures were beautiful needless to say; we had a lot of fun leafing through it!

I was the only one that slept over, Hanna and I had some breakfast and gamed a little more before parting ways. At home, I decided to bake chocolate chip cookies! Yum! No baking escapade would be complete without this princess Zelda apron Kyra made me! I feel like a real princess in it!

*get it? get it? princess? ....*

maybe I added a little too much sugar but they are really delicious! I have lots to go around so if my family and I can't finish them all, perhaps I'll give some to my friends or neighbors.

Sunday rolls around where my family goes to see the Chinese New Year Parade in Chinatown. It was really fun to watch! They might have been a little slow though, lots of delays but entertaining nonetheless.

Every China Town has one of these large doorways, the parade started here!

Chinese drummers

You can't have Chinese New Year without a dragon dance!

There's also an event called the lion dance where puppet lions dance then eat a cabbage head with some red pocket money attached to it. It's very fun to watch with the loud drums and fancy footwork of the dancers!

We stopped in a Maxims restaurant for lunch. Their clam chowder and pineapple buns are so good! I probably ate too much but hey! It's celebration time!

After lunch, we passed by Dr.Sun Yat Sen's Classical Chinese Garden to enjoy the scenery. It's a gorgeous garden. I remember taking my graduation photos here!

There were a lot of little stands in Chinatown selling goodies like jade and lucky bamboo. I may have to open my Red Pocket Money seeing all the festive paraphernalia!

Me at one of the vendors, how do you like the hat I'm trying on?

and of course, I just had to buy something because I may have a small addiction to shopping. There was a little African shop called Touch of Africa downtown that I got this shea butter from. It makes my hands feel so soft! I don't think I've ever had such a good hand cream. It also functions as body moisturizer, leave in conditioner for your hair, and you can even add it to your tea for added health benefits! The man who helped me was really nice, if you're reading this Omar, thanks for the awesome customer service!

I had a great time this weekend, thanks for reading and vicariously reliving the fun with me! Happy Year of the Snake, may it be the best year yet!

Ciao for now!

Giant balloon dragon says Happy Chinese New Year!

NYX Luscious Lip Gloss Palette Review

Lip products are probably one of the most fun things to apply make up wise! I love trying different colors, formulations, and textures for lip products. If you're an experimenter like me or just like to have a repertoire of different looks, NYX Luscious Lip Gloss Palettes are for you!

I have three of their palettes: Sweet Oranges, Pinky Promise, and The Naturals

They're fairly pigmented and do not dry out the lips. I do recommend applying a lip balm as a base first though since they were not made to moisturize. I love that they give you 5 similar shades in each pallet so that you can try out all 5 separately or mix them together to create a whole new color! They each come with a lip brush that is pretty good quality. Of course you can swipe color on with your finger but the lip brush offers precision application so that your pout is picture perfect!

They're incredibly cheap at about 6 CAD (I got them even cheaper at 3 since they were on sale) and will last you a really long time. The packaging is pretty cute, not amazing quality but it does the job and isn't too bulky to carry around with you in your bag. There's a very small mirror included that's only big enough for you to look at your lips, that can be a problem if you want to see how the lip color looks with the rest of your makeup but I have no qualms about that. It also seems like they spelled "Palette" differently but what the hey, typos don't change the quality of this lip palette!

In general an awesome lip product that I would love to get more of! Definitely recommend it!

Thanks for reading and ciao for now!

25 Things About Me!

This tag has been floating around for quite a while now and I thought I'd join in on the fun! Without further ado, here's 25 totally random things about me that you may find interesting:

1) I have moss phobia. If I touch it I feel like it will grow on me and it grosses me out!

2) When I was a little girl, I wanted to become a Pokemon Trainer; I was so excited on my tenth birthday (since that's the age you can legally become one)...too bad Pokemon don't actually exist...

3) I love the sound of high heels on hard wood floors! It sounds so...sophisticated

4) In grade 1 one morning, the announcements told us all to smile more that day so I smiled like mad. During story time, my teacher noticed and thought I was laughing at someone behind their back and was told to go to my desk with my head on the table. I was extremely confused and miserable that two adults, figures of authority, had contradicted each other and I had to pay for it.

5) There's a cactus in my room that I've had since I was very young and call him "Softy" since his spikes aren't prickly at all. He'll probably need to be re-potted soon since he's gotten quite large now.

6) I am TERRIFIED of bees. Once at a barbecue, a bee came flying too close to me and I leaped over an unsuspecting neighbor sitting in her lawn chair and toppled it over as I flew inside my house...I was very sorry but there was no way I'd let a flying monkey of death touch me or my BBQ ribs.

7) Music is my life; I play piano, guitar, clarinet and sing. Without music, I'd probably shrivel up and die. Probably.

8) I think flats are more painful to wear compared to heels. I'd rather wear boots or sneakers than either of those though.

9) I've read all the Goosebump books written by R.L. Stine.

10) I'm not religious at all and I don't believe in an afterlife. It helps me live my life to the fullest since I have no expectations for a heaven or hell and live in the NOW.

11) I have this weird ability to sense electronics from far distances. For example, if I'm in my room and my brother left the TV on in the study, I can feel a light tingling in my brain close to my ears that tells me he left the device on. Call it my not so super, super power!

12) I've been a straight A student all throughout elementary to high school. Whoot for Grand Honor Roll!

13) I used to wear my hair in a low ponytail everyday in the later part of elementary, all the way through middle, and for grade 9 of high school. Took me a while to break from that and let my hair down!

14) The first CD I ever bought with my own money was Mika's Life in Cartoon Motion. I still love every song on it to this day~

15) I HATE tattoos. I would never get one myself but, having said both those things I do think some of the tattoo designs out there are pretty neat!

16) I've eaten two of my teeth. When I was losing my baby teeth, I swallowed one by accident while eating ice cream and again when I was eating pizza.

17) I learned how to whistle in a car, nobody really taught me but suddenly I could do it after many weeks of spitting without the slightest trill from my embouchure.

18) Zooey Deschanel is my girl crush~ <3 I love her kooky cuteness to bits!

19) Frugal should be my middle name, I hate wasting food and spending money on things that I don't think will last me or costs too much.

20) My room looks like a tornado hit it. I always feel like I need to clean it and when I do, I find neat stuff buried under my mounds of clothes and books and get distracted!...so...the cleaning never really gets done

21) I have trichotillomania...I've had it since I was 9 and I really want to cure myself of it. I've tried sitting on my hands, wearing gloves, and a bunch of other stuff but it doesn't seem to help. I'll keep on trying though! Don't want early baldness!

22) I used to be a tomboy with no sense of fashion! I wore blood red cargo pants almost daily and a racing t-shirt...to make it worse, I had round glasses and braces too!

23) If given the choice, I would choose dogs over cats any day! I want a pet puppy so badly!

24) I have two stuffed animals named after royalty, a panda named Elizabeth and a brown bear called Henry

25) Currently addicted to little horror games like Ib, The Witch's House, and Mad Father...must play....MORE!!!

Konata tags you to do the 25 Things About Me tag!

Thanks for sticking around! Ciao for now~!
